Neck sterilizer: Application and Function
The Neck Sterilizer consists of three modularly configurable machine segments to ensure the optimal sterilization time:
- Inlet of 5,600 mm with 2,100 mm Sterilization section
- Expandable units of 2,000 and 3,000 mm Sterilization segments and
- A 5,600 mm outlet with a 2,100 mm Sterilization section.
The Whystler Necksterilizer processes PET and Glass Bottles in one line, without changeover times and without format changes.
For wetting the headspace or sterilizing the bottle neck, the PET or glass bottles are tilted by up to 110°C on a sterilization line so that the hot product (e.g., tea or iced tea) reaches the closure area for sterilization. This is made possible by a central SEW motor that drives the High-Tech Sterilization line with its extra-wide container support. This enables a high flow rate depending on the container type and the sterilization time (> 15 Seconds). The stepless turning curve of the Sterilization chain also guarantees a smooth turning process and very gentle container conveying.
To ensure these Standards, the bottles undergo a light barrier inspection before being turned, which monitors their entry into the Sterilization Area. The actual turning process is carried out precisely by a combination of a turning chain, a Sterilization Chain, and a supporting floor guide.
