Case Study

Retrofit of a pack and palletizing unit for filling cooking oil

A key unique selling point of Whystler Automation is the retrofitting of existing systems. In this case, the packaging and palletizing unit was over 30 years old. Whystler’s automation experts were tasked with bringing the unit up to date, enabling the system to pack approximately 10,000 containers per hour.

This involved replacing all drives and compressed air components, refurbishing the control cabinet, and updating the software. The packaging machine was also integrated into the existing MES system. To ensure smooth operation, wear parts and hardware components requiring maintenance were replaced.

Cost for the bottle packer retrofit: €90,000

Are you looking for a tailor-made and automatic bottle case packer for your production line?

Then let’s talk about how you can best utilize Whystler Automation’s expertise to implement an efficient bottle case packer.

Overview of the application areas for our bottle case packer

The automated bottle case packer operates under the WYSPAC category at Whystler Automation and is suitable for containers from the brewing, beverage, dairy and food industries.

WYSPAC I: Bottle case packer & unpacker

The WYSPAC I from Whystler Automation is a modular bottle case packer solution that supports the packing and unpacking of bottles, cans or cups and is available in a linear design or as a robotic pick-and-place model. The bottle case unpacker removes the products from cartons, boxes, or trays, while the bottle case packer automatically places the products into transport containers or shipping packaging. Automatic rotation during unpacking is specifically designed for swing-top bottles to prevent the swing-top caps from jamming. The WYSPAC is the basic model, and is available with varying levels of automation.

WYSPAC II: Bottle case packer, unpacker & repacker

With the WYSPAC II, Whystler Automation offers a modular solution for bottle case set packers that integrates a repacker in addition to the packer/unpacker. This allows all products to be repacked directly onto another conveyor line or into a different container type.

WYSPAC II S: Bottle case packer, unpacker, repacker & sorter

The WYSPAC II S is the most complex bottle case packer in Whystler Automation’s product range. It can also be individually adapted to the requirements of the production line and also offers automatic product sorting within the machine frame.

For all three versions of the WYSPAC there are additional functions like empty container handling, container erection and alignment, as well as integration into the overall line with palletizing or depalletizing.

Optional additional modules for the bottle case packer are:

Camera system for container detection

Control stations (label, fill level, closure)

Container return / empty container sorting

Integration into palletizers or depalletizers

FAQ

What levels of automation are available for Whystler bottle case packer?

Whystler Automation bottle case packers are available in various levels of automation – from semi-automated solutions to fully automated, high-performance systems.
